I received a (BA) Bachelor of Psychology Degree from Brandman University in 2014 and a (MSW) Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2017. My concentration was focused on children, youth, and families with a sub-concentration in military social work.
My approach
My passion for helping my clients involves providing the space to feel heard and validated, and empowering my clients to commit to positive behavioral health changes for themselves, interpersonally, and with the world around them. My theoretical lens is grounded in my studies and practice in humanistic theory, attachment-based theory/child development, and family systems theory. I strive to help individuals and when working with families, to develop healthier communication, interpersonal, behavioral, relational, and coping skills to strengthen both their interpersonal relationships and positive behaviors through empowerment, for enhanced overall mental health and well-being.
As a mental health therapist, I work from a person-centered approach and adjust my style to best fit your needs and what works best for you. I have experience working with children, youth, and adults and provide individual and group counseling. I practice as a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and DBT-informed clinician with a humanistic and person-centered approach to client care.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities based on specific needs (i.e. Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and person-centered approach modalities to build trust, rapport, and engage with clients). I utilize various behavioral health interventions to build positive coping skills, specific to client needs through psychoeducation including effective communication skills, self-care, mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, DBT skills: emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, use of wise mind, and esteem-building to name a few.
I was a military spouse for fourteen years and prior to that, I served active duty in the military. I have a unique perspective and personal experience of military family life including frequent transitions, deployment, and adjusting to new environments and how stressors can impact an individual and the family. Please let me know if you are struggling with military-related stressors and I will work with you on developing healthier coping skills and process any concerns to best fit your needs.
I look forward to meeting you and am honored to collaborate with you on your healing journey.
