Doug Blessington, MS, LMHC

Hi! My name is Doug Blessington. I know that finding a counselor can be difficult, so I want to give you a sense of who I am and how I approach therapy. This way, you can find out if we are a good fit. You can always call me too if you would like to know more.

First of all, counseling is about YOU. It is my job to create a safe, supportive, and caring space for us to work together to build the life you want.

If you are experiencing disconnection in your relationships, undergoing a life transition, or struggling to cope from day to day, then it might be a good idea to ask for help.

The best time to reach out for therapy is when you are ready for a change.

If you begin to notice that you and your partner are drifting apart and you want to prevent that from happening, then counseling is for you. If you or your partner want out of the spiral of contempt, infidelity, or mistrust, then therapy is for you. If you are tired of your critical mind, then counseling is for you. If you are ready to reconnect with who you are and who you were born to become, then counseling is for you. If you just don’t want to hurt so badly anymore, then counseling is for you.

If changing was easy, you would have done it already. Let me offer my expertise, and we will transform your life together.

About me

Every time I sit with a client or a couple, I am honored to be a part of their journey. I deeply appreciate the trust they put in me. I am also inspired because they have chosen to invest in themselves and their future.

My appreciation goes even deeper because I have personally struggled with anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. I went to counseling, studied, and got to work facing my fears. It was painful but cathartic. I tamed my anxiety, transformed my trauma, and now experience deep fulfillment in my life.

My transformation was so powerful that I realized that it was my calling to help others create the change they wanted to see in their lives. That is why I became a counselor. Not only do I have the training to support others, but I personally know what is needed to make change happen.

Professional experience

My name is Doug Blessington, M.S., LMHC. I have worked in the mental health and substance use fields for more than 10 years helping individuals, couples, and families find the healing they need. After earning my Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Carolina University, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State: #LH60934783.

I also worked as a mediator and have received extensive training in conflict resolution. Additionally, I studied in South Africa for 2 years and in Portland, Oregon with the Process Work Institute. While in South Africa, I was invited to study traditional medicine, where I completed extensive training with the Pondo tribe. I also facilitated workshops internationally about using spirituality as a tool for healing.

I love accompanying people on their journeys to wholeness. It would be my honor to support you too!
